GROW WITH WATERGATE BAY

I’m so excited to launch this’s year’s Christmas Collaboration with Watergate Bay Hotel tells the story of our work with the hotel and our commitment to sustainability. "Feed the Bees and Plant the Trees". 

Treading lightly on the earth is key to our seasonal and local approach to the provision of flowers at the Watergate Bay Hotel, with the flowers grown organically just 7 miles from the hotel.

"Plant the Trees" In 2020 we planted over 1000 trees at the smallholding, in collaboration with Rising Forests and St Ives Liquor Co. This feels like an incredible thing to be able to do, creating a woodland area for generations to come on our little patch of the world.

Feed the Bees…

We have recently begun working with a local beekeeper and have just welcomed  7 beehives onto the site and are so excited about this project - having already sampled the honeycomb, we know that this is going to be a brilliant partnership! 

Now it’s time for you to join us and Sow the Seeds and Feed the BEES!

You’ll need your packet of bee friendly seeds from Watergate and to follow these simple instructions:

Sowing time - April - Early June (ideally before Summer Solstice in mid/late June).

Prepare your ground - clear the weeds and rake through to remove any sones and lumps.

Carefully scatter your seeds, cover with a fine sprinkling of soil and water in.

Make sure you water regularly and after a couple of weeks you’ll see green shoots starting to appear.

Don’t let the soil dry out and keep a watchful eye out for slugs and snails!

Depending on when you sow, your bee friendly see mix will start to bloom in July through to September!
